Isofenphos-Methyl is a soil insecticide with strong contact and stomach toxicity. Its mechanism of action mainly involves affecting the nervous system of pests. Specifically, Isofenphos-Methyl controls pests by inhibiting the activity of acetylcholinesterase. Acetylcholinesterase is an important enzyme in the nervous system that participates in the transmission of nerve impulses. When methyl isofenphos enters the pest's body, it inhibits the activity of this enzyme. This interference disrupts the normal transmission of nerve impulses. As a result, the nerve signals in the pest's body cannot transmit properly, affecting its normal physiological activities. Over time, the pest becomes poisoned due to damage to its nervous system, ultimately leading to death.
3. Long Residual Effect: Isofenphos-Methyl has a long-lasting residual effect, providing extended protection.
4. Systemic Action: In addition to contact and stomach poison effects, Isofenphos-Methyl also has systemic action, allowing it to be absorbed by plants and translocated within, offering comprehensive protection.
5. Low Residue Levels: As a new type of organophosphate insecticide, Isofenphos-Methyl has lower residue levels, resulting in minimal impact on the environment and human health.
6. Diverse Application Methods: It can be used in various application methods, such as seed treatment and furrow application, and is suitable for a wide range of crops, including wheat, peanuts, soybeans, corn, sweet potatoes, sugar beets, and apples.
1. Control of Underground Pests: To control mole crickets, grubs, and wireworms, use 500 mL of 40% Isofenphos-Methyl emulsifiable concentrate mixed with 50-60 kg of water, and then coat 500-600 kg of wheat, corn, or sorghum seeds. The effective control period generally lasts about 30 days. For the control of peanut and soybean grubs, apply 300-450 mL of 20% Isofenphos-Methyl emulsifiable concentrate per acre during the planting season to create 20 kg of toxic soil. Apply this mixture evenly as hole or row treatments and cover with soil to ensure good seedling protection. To control grubs in melon fields, use 200 mL of 20% emulsifiable concentrate or 100 mL of 40% Isofenphos-Methyl emulsifiable concentrate per acre, mixed with 5 kg of bran to prepare a toxic bait applied in the furrows during land preparation.
2. Control of Above-Ground Pests: For sugarcane weevils, apply 400 mL of 20% Isofenphos-Methyl emulsifiable concentrate per acre mixed with 100 L of water at the base of the sugarcane seedlings, then cover with soil. For peach fruit borers, use 500 mL of 40% Isofenphos-Methyl emulsifiable concentrate per acre mixed with 150 L of water and spray on the soil surface within the tree basin. For cotton weevils, the best time to spray is in the morning; apply 25 mL of 40% Isofenphos-Methyl emulsifiable concentrate per acre diluted with water for spraying. For aphids and cutworms, use a 2000-fold dilution of 20% Isofenphos-Methyl emulsifiable concentrate for spraying.
