Metaflumizone is a type of carbamate insecticide with a unique mode of action. It primarily works through stomach toxicity. The pest ingests the agent, which then enters its body. Metaflumizone attaches to the sodium ion channel receptors. This action blocks sodium ions from passing through the axonal membrane. As a result, nerve impulses are inhibited. This leads to excessive relaxation and paralysis of the insect, ultimately causing death.
This mode of action makes Metaflumizone particularly effective against larvae and adults of Lepidoptera and Coleoptera that have chewing mouthparts. It targets pests such as the beet armyworm, rice leaf folder, and diamondback moth. It also affects leaf beetles, like the potato beetle, and flea beetles, such as the striped flea beetle.
Additionally, Metaflumizone shows good control efficacy on various crops. These include rice, tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, eggplant, peppers, strawberries, watermelons, beans, apples, and grapes. It does not exhibit cross-resistance with existing insecticides. This makes it effective against pests that have developed resistance to other insecticides.
Application
2. Control of the cowpea pod borer: At the early occurrence or the onset of the early larval stage of the pod borer, apply 33% Metaflumizone suspension at a dosage of 45-60 milliliters per acre. Spray evenly. Do not apply during windy conditions or if rain is expected within one hour. A maximum of two applications per season is allowed, with intervals of 7-10 days between treatments.
3. Cabbage looper control: For the early larval outbreak period of the cabbage looper, use 22% Metaflumizone suspension at a dosage of 70-80 milliliters per acre. For light infestations or when controlling early-stage larvae, use a lower dosage within the registered dosage range. For severe infestations or when controlling late-stage larvae, use a higher dosage within the registered dosage range.
