Thiophanate-methyl is a substituted benzimidazole fungicide. It is highly effective and low in toxicity. This fungicide has excellent systemic properties and controls a broad spectrum of fungal diseases. It effectively combats leaf spot, sooty mold, rust, anthracnose, ring spot, and gray mold. Users can apply it through foliar spraying, seed treatment, and soil application.
Thiophanate-methyl serves as both a preventive and therapeutic fungicide. It primarily acts through systemic absorption but also exhibits some contact activity. After application, part of it converts to carbendazim on the plant surface, which provides good protection. Another part gets absorbed into the plant and converts to carbendazim as well. This conversion interferes with the formation of fungal mycelium, inhibits spore germination, and obstructs cell division, achieving effective fungicidal effects.
Kresoxim-Methyl is a mitochondrial respiration inhibitor. It blocks electron transfer between cytochrome b and c1. This action inhibits mitochondrial respiration in pathogens. It prevents ATP synthesis and suppresses pathogen growth. Kresoxim-Methy mainlyl targets spore germination. It also inhibits mycelial growth. There is no cross-resistance with certain fungicides. However, Kresoxim-Methyl has cross-resistance with pyraclostrobin and isopyrazam. Do not alternate with these two agents.
1. Diverse modes of action
Kresoxim-Methyl has protective and therapeutic effects. After application, it quickly absorbs and penetrates plant tissues. It translocates within plants and inhibits secondary germination of pathogen spores. This action effectively eradicates diseases.
2. Broad antimicrobial spectrum
Kresoxim-Methyl has a wide range of antifungal activity. It is effective against most diseases caused by Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes, Deuteromycetes, and Oomycetes. It shows high activity against various powdery mildew diseases. It controls cucumber powdery mildew, tomato early blight, apple and pear black spot, leaf spot, and several other diseases, including banana leaf spot, grape downy mildew, wheat rust, sheath blight, blast disease, beet white powdery disease, potato late blight, and pumpkin blight.
3. Good compatibility
Kresoxim-Methyl can be mixed with various fungicides, such as epoxiconazole, chlorothalonil, metalaxyl, tebuconazole, and others.
Thiophanate-methyl is highly effective in controlling various fungal diseases, including but not limited to the following kinds:
1. Downy Mildew: This is a common plant disease that primarily affects leaves, causing yellow and white spots, and can lead to leaf death in severe cases. Thiophanate-methyl can effectively inhibit the growth of downy mildew fungi, thereby controlling the development of the disease.
2. Anthracnose: Anthracnose is a fungal disease that affects a variety of crops, primarily manifesting as brown lesions on leaves and fruits, which can lead to plant death in severe cases. Thiophanate-methyl has a significant inhibitory effect on anthracnose fungi and can be used to control anthracnose in various crops.
3. Wilting Disease: Wilting disease is a soil-borne disease that primarily affects the roots and stems of crops, leading to plant wilting and death. Thiophanate-methyl can effectively control the occurrence and spread of wilting disease through soil treatment or irrigation application.
4. Powdery Mildew: Powdery mildew is a common leaf disease that primarily affects leaves and stems, causing a white powdery substance to cover the leaf surface. Thiophanate-methyl has a significant preventive effect against powdery mildew fungi and can be used to control powdery mildew in various crops.
5. Rust Disease: Rust disease is a typical fungal disease that primarily affects the leaves and stems of crops, causing rusty lesions on the leaves. Thiophanate-methyl has an inhibitory effect on rust fungi and can be used to control rust disease in various crops.
Kresoxim-Methyl is suitable for various melons, fruits, and vegetables. It effectively controls many fungal diseases. Currently, it is mainly used to combat anthracnose and powdery mildew in watermelons and cantaloupes. It also targets downy mildew, powdery mildew, black spot, and wilt in cucumbers. For loofah, it controls downy mildew, powdery mildew, and anthracnose. In winter melons, it addresses downy mildew, blight, and anthracnose. For tomatoes, it is effective against late blight, early blight, and leaf mold. In peppers, it controls anthracnose, blight, and powdery mildew. It also targets downy mildew and black spot in cruciferous vegetables and downy mildew in cauliflower. Additionally, it controls powdery mildew and rust in beans, peas, and cowpeas. For soybean, it addresses rust and downy mildew. In potatoes, it combats late blight, early blight, and black scurf, and it also targets leaf spot and rust in peanuts.
