2,4-D is a selective systemic herbicide. Salts are readily absorbed by the roots, whilst esters are readily absorbed by the foliage. Translocation occurs, with accumulation principally at the meristematic regions of shoots and roots. Acts as a growth inhibitor.
Florasulam is an ultra-efficient herbicide belonging to the triazolopyrimidine sulfonamide class. It is a systemic herbicide that can be absorbed and translocated throughout the entire weed plant, ensuring thorough control and preventing regrowth. Its efficacy remains stable at low temperatures, maintaining effective performance even at 2°C.
Application of 2,4-D
Mainly used as a herbicide and plant growth regulator. At high concentrations above 500ppm for foliar application, it controls broadleaf weeds (e.g., Chenopodium, Amaranthus) and germinating grass weeds in wheat, rice, corn, and sugarcane fields. Systemic in action, it enters plants via roots, stems, and leaves. Due to slow degradation, it accumulates to disruptive concentrations, interfering with hormonal balance and disrupting nucleic acid/protein metabolism. This causes weed distortion (twisted leaves/stems, swollen cracked bases). Cereal crops exhibit strong tolerance during their 4-5 leaf stage, making this the optimal spraying window. Sometimes applied pre-emergence in corn fields for controlling both monocot and dicot weeds. Herbicidal efficacy improves when mixed with atrazine, prometryn, or acidic fertilizers like ammonium sulfate. Efficacy rises with temperatures (20-28°C optimal) but declines below 20°C.
caution: 2,4-D butyl ester volatilizes significantly at high temperatures, risking drift damage to nearby dicots/trees. Sprayers require thorough cleaning to prevent residual harm to sensitive crops (cotton, vegetables), though it remains safe for humans/livestock.
Application of Florasulam
Controlling Broadleaf Weeds in Wheat Fields: After winter wheat seedlings emerge, apply the herbicide when broadleaf weeds are in the 3-5 leaf stage. Use 5-6 mL of the 50 g/L diflufenican suspension agent per acre, diluted in water for foliar spray application once.
Mixing With Other Herbicides: It can be co-applied with the following herbicides: 2,4-D iso-octyl ester, fluorochloridone, chloropyron oxide iso-octyl ester, bensulfuron, flumetsulam, 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxy acid iso-octyl ester, and sulfentrazone, among others.
