The core mechanism of Diafenthiuron is to interfere with the energy metabolism of pests' nervous systems, disrupting their basic functions to achieve insecticidal effects. Diafenthiuron acts similarly to propargite and belongs to the class of mitochondrial ATP synthase inhibitors. Under ultraviolet light, multifunctional oxidases in the pest's body decompose dinotefuran into a carbon diimidate. This substance hinders mitochondrial function in the pest's nerve cells, blocking respiration and energy conversion.
Diafenthiuron primarily exerts contact and stomach toxic effects on pests. It disrupts the energy metabolism of the nervous system, damages its fundamental functions, and inhibits chitin synthesis. After application in the field, pests become paralyzed before dying. The effect begins within 3 days, peaking at 5 days post-application.
Diafenthiuron exhibits excellent biological activity against mites at all life stages and also shows outstanding control effectiveness against resistant diamondback moths.
Diafenthiuron is widely used on cotton, fruits, vegetables, and tea. This agent is a selective insecticide with both systemic and fumigant properties. It can control sensitive strains of aphids as well as those that have developed resistance to carbamates, organophosphates, and pyrethroids. Additionally, it can manage pests such as leafhoppers, whiteflies, diamondback moths, cabbage butterflies, and noctuids. This agent can be mixed with most acaricides and insecticides.
1. To control diamondback moths on cruciferous vegetables, apply the treatment during the early larval stage. Use 40-60g of 50% Diafenthiuron wettable powder mixed with water per acre for spraying. The safe interval is 14 days, with a maximum of 2 applications per season.
2. To control apple red spider mites, apply the treatment during the adult and juvenile mite stages. Use a 1000-2000-fold dilution of 50% Diafenthiuron wettable powder for whole plant spraying at a rate of 1000-2000mL per acre. The safe interval is 21 days, with a maximum of 2 applications per season.
3. To control cabbage caterpillars and diamondback moths on cruciferous vegetables, apply the treatment during the early larval stage. Use 60-100mL of 25% Diafenthiuron emulsifiable concentrate and 80-120mL mixed with water per acre for spraying. The safe interval for both is 7 days, with a maximum of 1 application per season.
