Fenhexamid is a new type of amide fungicide with systemic and protective properties, primarily used for the control of gray mold, sclerotinia, and black spot diseases. It also exhibits certain activity against some pathogen strains that have developed resistance. Due to its safety for crops, low toxicity, and environmental friendliness, it has become an ideal choice for integrated pest management. The development, production, and application of this product offer significant social and economic benefits.
The mechanism of action of fenhexamid is not yet fully understood. Researchers currently believe that its primary target is the biosynthesis of sterols. It mainly affects the 3-keto-reductase, which hinders the demethylation of C4. This action results in the inhibition of fungal germ tube and hyphal growth. Fenhexamid does not move systemically within the plant. Because of its unique mechanism of action, fenhexamid does not show cross-resistance with most existing mainstream fungicides. It also demonstrates excellent activity against gray mold pathogens that have developed resistance to current fungicides.
2. Broad Spectrum: In addition to gray mold, fenhexamid can effectively control other diseases, such as sclerotinia and black spot, demonstrating its broad-spectrum fungicidal capability.
3. Safety: Compared to many other pesticides, fenhexamid is considered a safer option, potentially having less negative impact on crops and the environment.
