Azoxystrobin is a fungicide that inhibits fungal growth by suppressing the elongation of downy mildew mycelium and cell division, achieving its bactericidal effect. Compared to traditional pesticides, mefenoxam is less likely to develop resistance and can maintain a high level of efficacy for a long time, effectively controlling downy mildew.
Tebuconazole is a triazole fungicide that inhibits sterol biosynthesis. After application, plants quickly absorb it. The fungicide mainly moves to the upper parts of the plant. It enters the pathogen's cells and inhibits the demethylation of ergosterol in the cell membrane. This action prevents the pathogen from forming its cell membrane and inhibits its normal growth.
Tebuconazole has fungicidal activity and promotes crop growth. It leads to well-developed root systems, deep green leaves, and increased yields.
Tebuconazole shows significant therapeutic effects. It provides good protective action and exhibits strong systemic translocation and penetration activity. This results in rapid fungicidal action.
Features of Azoxystrobin
1. Broad spectrum of activity. Azoxystrobin is a broad-spectrum fungicide that can control nearly all fungal diseases caused by Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes, Oomycetes, and Deuteromycetes, including early blight, late blight, downy mildew, gray mold, leaf mold, leaf spot, black star disease, black rot, damping-off, root rot, anthracnose, and wilt.
It is particularly effective against various diseases such as powdery mildew, rust, sheath blight, net blotch, stem rot, and rice blast, achieving multi-disease control with a single spray. It is suitable for a variety of cereal crops like wheat, corn, and rice, as well as cash crops such as peanuts, cotton, sesame, and tobacco, vegetable crops including tomatoes, watermelons, cucumbers, eggplants, and peppers, and numerous fruit trees such as apples, pears, kiwifruit, mangoes, lychees, longans, bananas, along with ornamental plants, lawns, and hundreds of other crops.
2. Strong penetration and systemic conduction. As mentioned previously, among Azoxystrobin, kresoxim-methyl, and pyraclostrobin, pyraclostrobin exhibits the strongest activity, while azoxystrobin demonstrates the highest permeability. When Azoxystrobin is sprayed on crop leaves, it causes the rearrangement of the cuticle and waxy layers as it penetrates the crop's epidermis, significantly enhancing the permeability of the surface, which is the reason behind Azoxystrobin's strong penetration. After penetrating the epidermis, it can be conducted to both the apex and basal parts, offering robust protection to the crops, including newly growing parts, while also providing some therapeutic effect on already infected areas, with a residual efficacy of up to 15 days.
3. Protection against plant aging and extended green leaf retention. Azoxystrobin increases the activity of peroxidase enzymes, which not only enhances the crop's disease resistance but also plays a role in delaying plant aging. It extends the retention of green leaves and prolongs the harvest period, thereby improving crop yield and quality.
Features of Tebuconazole
1. Broad Spectrum of Activity: Tebuconazole can be widely used to control various diseases, including damping-off, anthracnose, leaf spot, root rot, black star disease, brown spot disease, sclerotinia, fusarium, black smut, silver smut, powdery mildew, stripe rust, leaf rust, large spot, small spot, gray mold, and many others.
2. Good Systemic Activity: Tebuconazole has excellent systemic properties. After application, it absorbs through the roots, stems, and leaves, and it can be transmitted to any part of the plant.
3. Long Residual Activity: Due to its good systemic properties, tebuconazole can be used for both spraying and seed treatment. Once absorbed by the crops, it remains in the plant for an extended period to continuously kill pathogens. The residual activity lasts 15 to 20 days for foliar applications, over 80 days for seed treatment, and can exceed 100 days when soil-applied.
4. Regulation of Crop Growth: As a triazole fungicide, tebuconazole suppresses the division and elongation of plant cells. When used at the recommended dose, it can control vegetative growth, promote reproductive growth, and enhance the transport of nutrients into the fruit. This leads to increased content of sugars, proteins, and other solid materials in the fruit, improved seed fullness, higher thousand-grain weight, and better fruit quality.
5. Protective, Therapeutic, and Eradicative Actions: Tebuconazole works by inhibiting ergosterol in the cell membranes of pathogens, which suppresses mycelial growth and spore formation, effectively killing the pathogens. It offers comprehensive prevention, treatment, and eradication of diseases.
6. Good Compatibility: Tebuconazole can mix with various agents, including prochloraz, propineb, thiram, difenoconazole, and azoxystrobin. This compatibility results in notable synergistic effects, expanding the spectrum of activity, preventing the development of resistance, and enhancing the efficacy against diseases.
7. Diverse Application Methods: Tebuconazole can be applied through foliar spraying, seed treatment, soil application, and root drenching for therapeutic purposes.
