Sulfosulfuron is a highly effective sulfonylurea herbicide that acts systemically, primarily absorbed through the roots and foliage of plants. This product is an inhibitor of branched-chain amino acid synthesis, which disrupts the biosynthesis of essential amino acids, particularly valine and isoleucine. As a result, it halts cell division, stops plant growth, and ultimately leads to desiccation and death of the plants.
Sulfosulfuron can be used as a herbicide, primarily for the control of annual and perennial grassy weeds, as well as some broadleaf weeds, such as wild oats, Kentucky bluegrass, smartweed, and barnyard grass. It is particularly effective against well-known difficult-to-control weeds like barnyard grass.
