Propamocarb is a systemic fungicide. It inhibits the biosynthesis of phospholipids and fatty acids in the pathogen's cell membrane. This action suppresses mycelial growth, spore sac formation, and spore germination. When used as a soil treatment, Propamocarb is quickly absorbed by the roots. It is then transported throughout the entire plant. In foliar applications, the leaves absorb it rapidly. It provides protective effects within 30 minutes. Additionally, Propamocarb can be used in soilless cultivation. It is also effective for tuber and bulb soaking treatments, as well as seed coating preparation. Due to its unique mechanism of action, Propamocarb shows no cross-resistance with other fungicides. This makes it especially effective against resistant pathogens. At appropriate dosages, it ensures the safety of crop growth. It also significantly promotes the development of plant roots, stems, and leaves.
Propamocarb is mainly used to control various diseases such as damping-off, wilt, leaf spot, anthracnose, downy mildew, and others in cucurbit crops. During outbreaks or epidemic stages of these diseases, Propamocarb can be used as a "rescue" pesticide due to its quick action. Although its effective duration is relatively short (3-5 days), it can effectively control the disease in emergency situations.
