Dichlorvos (DDVP) is an organophosphorus insecticide that belongs to the carbamate pesticide class. Its main function is to inhibit the acetylcholine receptors on the presynaptic membrane of cholinergic nerve endings. This inhibition disrupts the transmission of nerve signals. As a result, the activity of acetylcholinesterase is blocked. Consequently, the mediators secreted by cholinergic nerves cannot be properly broken down. This leads to the accumulation of these substances in the body, causing mushroom-like and nicotine-like effects.
1. Efficiency: The mechanism of action of dichlorvos is to disrupt neural signal transmission. When pests ingest dichlorvos, it interferes with the functioning of the central nervous system, leading to muscle tremors, paralysis, and ultimately death. Dichlorvos has strong permeability, allowing it to quickly penetrate the pest's body wall, thus taking effect in a short period and effectively reducing pest populations.
2. Broad-spectrum: Dichlorvos is toxic to a variety of pests found in multiple crops. Whether in cotton, soybeans, fruit trees, or vegetables, dichlorvos can effectively control various pests. Additionally, dichlorvos can also be applied in poultry and veterinary fields, showing strong efficacy in eliminating external parasites in animals.
Dichlorvos (DDVP) Control Targets and Usage Methods
DDVP is effective against pests with chewing and sucking mouthparts. It can be used on vegetables, fruit trees, and various agricultural crops.
1. To control Cabbage caterpillar, diamondback moth, cabbage looper, aphids, cabbage maggot, and striped night moth, use an 80% emulsion oil solution diluted at 1500-2000 times for spraying.
2. To control Twenty-eight spotted lady beetle, tobacco budworm, whiteflies, cotton bollworm, diamondback moth, moths, and night moths, use an 80% emulsion oil solution diluted at 1000 times for spraying.
3. To control Spider mites and aphids, use a 50% emulsion oil solution diluted at 1000-1500 times for spraying.
4. To control Cutworms, yellow striped flea beetles, and yellow striped jump beetles, use an 80% emulsion oil solution diluted at 800-1000 times for spraying or soil drenching.
5. To control Greenhouse whiteflies, use an 80% emulsion oil solution diluted at 1000 times for spraying to target both adult and nymph stages. Spray once every 5-7 days, and continue spraying for 2-3 times to effectively control the damage. Alternatively, use DDVP smoke agents for fumigation: seal the greenhouse in the evening before finishing work and use 0.5 kg of 22% DDVP smoke agent per acre. You can also place sawdust in a flower pot, sprinkle with 80% DDVP emulsion oil, and put several burning coal balls on top, using 0.3-0.4 kg of emulsion oil per acre.
6. To control Bean pod borer, during the peak flowering stage of cowpeas (when 2-3 flowers are relatively clustered), spray an 80% DDVP emulsion oil solution diluted at 1000 times before 8 a.m. when the petals open, focusing on the buds, flowers, tender pods, and flowers that have fallen. Repeat the spraying 2-3 times.
