Fluxapyroxad is a succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicide that acts as an inhibitor of the respiration of pathogens. It inhibits succinate dehydrogenase in complex II of the respiratory electron transport chain, preventing the production of energy, thereby inhibiting the growth of pathogens and ultimately leading to their death. Fluxapyroxad can suppress spore germination, germ tube elongation, hyphal growth, and spore formation.
Fluxapyroxad exhibits excellent acropetal translocation. After rapid absorption by plants, it continuously disperses within the leaves and is delivered to newly formed tissues. This characteristic makes Fluxapyroxad suitable for multiple stages of disease control. When applied before the onset of disease, the fungicide can provide prolonged protective effects on the plant. For plants that are already infected, it can quickly exert therapeutic action.
