Chlorfluazuron is a new type of insecticide belonging to the benzoylurea class and is classified as an organic compound. The main mechanism of action of flufenoxuron is the inhibition of chitin synthesis, which disrupts the normal molting process of insects. By inhibiting the formation of chitin, Chlorfluazuron interferes with the normal molting processes of pests, leading to deformed hatching of eggs, larval molting, and pupation, ultimately affecting the emergence and oviposition of adult insects, thereby achieving its insecticidal effects.
Chlorfluazuron primarily works through stomach poison action, with some contact action, but it is not systemic. It has a high efficacy but acts slowly, generally taking 5 to 7 days after application to achieve its full effect. Chlorfluazuron is highly active against various pests in the Lepidoptera, Orthoptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, and Diptera orders, but is ineffective against aphids, leafhoppers, and planthoppers.
Application
Chlorfluazuron can be used to control Lepidoptera pests such as diamondback moth, beet armyworm, cabbage looper, silverleaf whitefly, and tobacco budworm in cruciferous vegetables. The pesticide should be sprayed evenly during the peak egg hatching period to the early larval stage, approximately once every 7 days. It is particularly important to spray the underside of the leaves to ensure thorough coverage. When pest outbreaks are severe, it is best to mix with quick-acting insecticides. Generally, use Chlorfluazuron 5% emulsifiable concentrate or 80-100 milliliters of 50 grams/liter emulsifiable concentrate per acre, diluted with 30-60 kilograms of water for even spraying; or use 5% emulsifiable concentrate or 50 grams/liter emulsifiable concentrate at a dilution of 500-700 times, or Chlorfluazuron 50% emulsifiable concentrate at a dilution of 5000-7000 times for even spraying.
For the control of cotton bollworm, beet armyworm, tobacco budworm, and armyworm in solanaceous and cucurbit vegetables: Spray evenly from the peak egg hatching period to before the larvae begin to bore into the plants or during the early larval stage, approximately once every 7 days. When pest outbreaks are severe, it is best to mix with quick-acting insecticides. Generally, use Chlorfluazuron 5% emulsifiable concentrate or 50 grams/liter emulsifiable concentrate diluted to 400-600 times, or 50% emulsifiable concentrate diluted to 4000-6000 times for even spraying.
