Chlorsulfuron is a sulfonylurea herbicide, which is an efficient systemic herbicide with broad-spectrum selectivity. It can be absorbed by the roots and leaves of weeds and translocate throughout the plant. It is more effective against newly emerged weeds, and although it may not immediately kill larger weeds, they will lose their competitive ability with crops.Chlorsulfuron is highly effective with prolonged residual activity. The application rate must be strictly controlled and should not be arbitrarily increased to avoid adverse effects on subsequent crops.
Metsulfuron-Methyl is a selective, systemic herbicide for wheat fields. After being absorbed by the roots and leaves of weeds, it is quickly translocated within the plant, moving both upward and downward. It rapidly inhibits the growth of plant roots and new shoot tips within a few hours, leading to plant death within 3 to 14 days. Once absorbed by wheat seedlings, metsulfuron-Methyl is converted by enzymes within the wheat plants and degrades rapidly, which gives wheat a high level of tolerance to this product. The application rate is low, and it has high solubility in water, allowing it to be adsorbed by the soil, where it degrades slowly, especially in alkaline soils.
Application of Chlorsulfuron
Chlorsulfuron can be absorbed by the roots, stems, and leaves of weeds, with stem and leaf treatment being the main method, and some varieties are also used for soil treatment. The main target of action is acetolactate synthase, which inhibits weed growth by suppressing cell division. After the weed is treated, the young tissues lose their green color, sometimes appearing purple or anthocyanin-colored, the growing point dies, the leaf veins lose their green color, the plant becomes stunted, and eventually the entire plant dies. The action is rapid, but the death of the weed is slower. After the weed is treated, growth stops rapidly, with noticeable symptoms of poisoning within 1-2 days. However, the complete death of the weed takes longer, usually over two weeks.
Application of Metsulfuron-Methyl
Metsulfuron-Methyl effectively controls various weeds, including wild oats, chickweed, field bindweed, shepherd's purse, wild mustard, bittercress, kochia, lambsquarters, smartweed, barnyard grass, and water peanut.
Metsulfuron-Methyl is characterized by its high efficiency, broad spectrum, and systemic action. The application rate is 4.5 to 7.5 grams of active ingredient per hectare, used to control various broadleaf weeds in cereal fields. It can be absorbed by both the roots and leaves, and is translocated upward and downward within the plant.
It is active against weeds such as wild oats, ryegrass, smartweed, bindweed, chickweed, shepherd's purse, poppy, wild sesame, and buckwheat. However, it is not very effective against pigweed. Increasing the dosage may cause slight yellowing and stunting of the crops, but it does not affect yield.
