Pymetrozine is a representative insecticide of the pyrid-ine heterocyclic class. It has a unique mode of action. Research shows that when aphids or planthoppers contact it, they almost immediately experience a stylet blocking effect. This leads to an instant cessation of feeding, ultimately resulting in starvation and death. This process is irreversible. Therefore, Pymetrozine has excellent insect virus transmission blocking capabilities.
Pymetrozine is a highly selective contact insecticide with good systemic activity. It can be transported in both xylem and phloem within plants. Thus, it can be used for foliar spraying and soil treatment. Due to its good transport characteristics, newly grown branches and leaves can also be effectively protected after stem and leaf spraying.
Nitenpyram primarily affects the insect nervous system. It has a neuroblocking effect on pest synaptic receptors. After spontaneous firing, it increases the membrane potential difference. This ultimately reduces synaptic membrane stimulation. As a result, the axonal synaptic membrane potential channels lose stimulation, causing pest paralysis and death.
Nitenpyram offers excellent systemic activity and penetration. It has a broad spectrum of insecticidal action and is safe without harming crops. It serves as a replacement product for controlling piercing-sucking pests, such as whiteflies, aphids, pear psyllids, leafhoppers, and thrips.
Application of Pymetrozine
1. Root Drenching: pymetrozine has good systemic activity. It can be transported in both xylem and phloem within plants. During planting, use a 1000-fold dilution of 25% pymetrozine wettable powder for root drenching. It effectively controls aphids, planthoppers, and whiteflies, with a residual effect of about 50 days.
2. Spraying: For controlling vegetable aphids, whiteflies, rice planthoppers, and leafhoppers, apply 15-20 grams of 50% pymetrozine water-dispersible granules per mu. After application, the insects die slowly after feeding, averaging about 60% mortality by 3 days post-application, and over 95% by 7 days. The residual effect lasts more than 25 days.
Application of Nitenpyram
1. Control of Aphids: Use a 10% soluble liquid formulation or a 10% water-based solution diluted to 2000-3000 times for uniform spraying. You can also use a 10% Nitenpyram soluble granule formulation diluted to 2000 times for root drenching. This method shows good efficacy against aphids on greenhouse cucumbers, with a pest reduction rate exceeding 96% ten days after treatment. The residual effect can last over 20 days.
2. Control of Tobacco Whiteflies and Whiteflies: Use a 10% Nitenpyram soluble liquid formulation diluted to 2000 times for uniform spraying. Alternatively, during planting, you can apply a 10% Nitenpyram water-based solution diluted to 2000-3000 times. This method is particularly effective in fields with overlapping generations (adults, nymphs, and eggs) and a high pest population, with a residual effect lasting around 20 days.
3. Control of Thrips: Mix a 10% Nitenpyram soluble liquid formulation diluted to 3000 times with a 5% acetamiprid diluted to 2000 times for uniform spraying. The control effect is outstanding.
4. Control of Planthoppers: During the outbreak period of planthoppers, use a 10% Nitenpyram solution diluted to 2000 times for uniform spraying. The control efficacy reaches over 90%, significantly outperforming a 30% acetamiprid formulation. The quick action is very noticeable, with a residual effect lasting around 15 days.
