Linuron is a urea-based herbicide and photosynthesis inhibitor. It is a selective pre-emergence and post-emergence urea herbicide that has both systemic and contact action, primarily absorbed by the roots of weeds but can also be taken up through the leaves.
Application of Linuron
Linuron is effective against annual grassy weeds such as barnyard grass, foxtail, and polygonum. It is suitable for application in fields of celery, leguminous vegetables, carrots, potatoes, and onions. It is typically used for soil treatment from after sowing until before seedling emergence. The general application rate is 100 grams of 50% linuron per acre, diluted with water and sprayed on the soil.
Linuron is not suitable for use in fields with organic matter content below 1% or above 5%. Additionally, it should not be used in sandy soils with high rainfall. Sensitive crops include sugar beets, sunflowers, cabbage, lettuce, melons, radishes, tobacco, eggplants, and peppers. After using spraying equipment, it should be thoroughly cleaned.
