Metalaxyl is a systemic fungicide with protective and curative action, absorbed through the leaves, stems, and roots. Uses To control diseases caused by air- and soil- borne Peronosporales on a wide range of temperate, subtropical and tropical crops. Foliar sprays with mixtures of metalaxyl and protectant fungicides are recommended to control air-borne diseases caused by Pseudoperonospora humuli on hops, Phytophthora infestans on potatoes and tomatoes, Peronospora tabacina on tobacco, Plasmopara viticola on vines, Bremia lactucae on lettuce, and downy mildews on various vegetables, at 200-300 g/ha. Soil applications of metalaxyl alone are used to control soil-borne pathogens causing root and lower stem rots on avocado and citrus, at 500-1500 g/ha. Seed treatments control systemic Peronosporaceae on maize, peas, sorghum and sunflowers, as well as damping-off (Pythium spp.) of various crops.
Diniconazole is a broad-spectrum, high-efficiency plant growth regulator with fungicidal and herbicidal properties. Acting as a gibberellin synthesis inhibitor, it controls vegetative growth and inhibits cell elongation. This leads to shorter internodes and dwarfed plants, promoting lateral bud growth and flower bud formation while enhancing resistance to stress.
Notably, its activity is 6-10 times higher than that of paclobutrazol, yet its soil residue is only 1/10 of paclobutrazol, resulting in minimal impact on subsequent crops. The compound can be absorbed through seeds, roots, buds, and leaves, circulating among plant organs, although leaf absorption is limited. Additionally, it exhibits strong apical dominance.
Diniconazole is particularly suitable for rice and wheat, as it increases tillering, controls plant height, and improves lodging resistance. In fruit trees, it aids in controlling tree shape. The regulator also benefits ornamental plants by promoting flower bud differentiation and increasing flowering.
Application of Diniconazole
1. Prevention and Control of Powdery Mildew and Rust: Generally, a 12.5% Diniconazole wettable powder at a dilution of 3000 times can be sprayed for control. Spraying should start at the initial stage of the disease, ensuring that the crops are thoroughly sprayed to avoid areas that may not be reached, in order to prevent recurrence of the disease later. It is recommended to spray at least twice, with an interval of about 15 days between each application. In severe cases, applications may be made once a week.
2. Prevention and Control of Black Spot and Brown Spot Diseases: At the early stage of the disease, use 12.5% Diniconazole diluted to 2500-3000 times for uniform spraying.
3. Prevention and Control of Lawn and Wheat Loose Smut: A 2% wettable powder of Diniconazole can be used by mixing 200 grams with 100 kilograms of seeds. When mixing, first moisten the seeds and then mix them together.
4. Prevention and Control of Powdery Mildew and Rust on Roses, Crabapples, Apples, Japanese Boxwood, Yellow Flanel Flower, and Crape Myrtle: At the early stage of the disease, spray Diniconazole evenly for effective control.
