Tricyclazole is a special indirect-acting compound. It has multiple mechanisms of action. Its primary function prevents pathogen invasion. It does this by inhibiting melanin biosynthesis in the rice blast fungus. This action serves as a protective anti-invasion agent.
Secondary effects include inducing disease resistance. It also inhibits the antioxidant capacity of conidia. These effects help prevent re-infection by pathogens. They compensate for the shortcomings of therapeutic effects.
Research shows that tricyclazole does not inhibit mycelial growth. It also does not inhibit spore germination of the rice blast fungus. However, it significantly suppresses the pathogenicity of conidia.
Additionally, tricyclazole exhibits excellent systemic translocation properties. After application, the plant absorbs it through the stems and leaves. It then transports within the rice plant. This process effectively prevents pathogen.
During the seedling to tillering stage of rice growth, if there are no visible rice blast lesions in the field, tricyclazole can be used for prevention. Applying it 2-3 times throughout the growing season can effectively control rice blast disease. If rice blast lesions appear in the field, a combination of tricyclazole+pyraclostrobin or isoprothiolane fungicide should be used for treatment. In severe cases, stronger medications are necessary, utilizing tricyclazole's systemic translocation to effectively control the spread of rice blast and protect new leaves and healthy seedlings.
For leaf blast, tricyclazole should be applied early during the panicle initiation stage. Alternatively, one can choose combination products like kasugamycin+Tricyclazole or Tricyclazole+Azoxystrobin. A mix of Trifloxystrobin+ tebuconazole, and tricyclazole can also prevent both rice sheath blight and brown stripe disease. Mixing tricyclazole with other fungicides for rice blast can combine different mechanisms of action, achieving enhanced effectiveness.
Common name | Tricyclazole |
CAS | 41814-78-2 |
Formula | C9H7N3S |
Technical requirements for use | 1. To prevent and control rice blast, the medicine should be applied before or at the beginning of the disease, twice per season, with an interval of 7-10 days. 2. Do not apply on windy days or rain is expected within 1 hour. |
Product performance | This product is a strong internal absorption of protective triazole fungicide, can be absorbed by rice roots, stems, leaves, and transported to all parts of the rice plant. Tricyclazole has strong anti-scour force, and it does not need to be sprayed in case of rain after spraying for an hour. The main function is to inhibit spore germination and appressorium formation, so as to effectively prevent pathogen invasion and reduce the production of P. oryzae spores. |
